The continuous band sealer is a go-to solution for today’s fast-paced packaging environment, where efficiency and consistency are more important than ever.
A band sealer, like our CBS-880, is a sealing machine that can seal all types of thermoplastic materials, including PP, PE, co-extruded stand-up pouches, gusseted bags, and moisture barrier bags. Seals are created using PTFE bands, which maintain high seal quality and produce consistently strong, clean seals on all heat-sealable bags.
The bags are transported along the conveyor as the seal is being made. As the pouches are fed into the sealer, which has a maximum speed of 39 feet per minute, the machine uses heat and pressure to create a wide 8 mm air-tight seal.
A band sealer can seal thousands of products daily and is often used in medium- to high-volume packaging operations.
These machines are used extensively in the food/produce, medical, chemical, cosmetic, pharmaceutical, and electronic industries.

It comes in two configurations: horizontal and vertical. When deciding between a vertical CBS-880II and a horizontal CBS-880I band sealer, the products being packaged, along with the required speed and seal width, should be considered.
The biggest difference between the two machines is the orientation of the bag during sealing. The vertical band sealer is made to seal stand-up pouches, while the bags are laid flat on a horizontal band sealer.
The upright position of the vertical band sealer reduces the likelihood of spills. It’s perfect for upright pouches up to from 6” to 12” in height.
The horizontal band sealer is primarily used for sealing flat, dry products. The adjustable conveyor can move in and out to accommodate various bag sizes. We recommend bags shorter than 18 inches, though in some instances longer bags will work with the sealer.

These versatile machines offer several adjustments that allow them to be used for a wide range of applications. The features include:
- Both horizontal and vertical sealers are easy and quick to set up.
- Fast warm-up time.
- Digital temperature controller that heats to 572 degrees Fahrenheit, with dual alphanumeric displays showing target and current temperatures.
- Equipped with an extended forced-air cooling system with extra-wide cooling bars and 6 heat transfer orifices.
- Adjustable conveyor speed, with speeds up to 39 feet per minute.
- Adjustable 2-way pulley system for optimal stability and embossing clarity.
- Operates from a standard 110-volt wall outlet.
- Quickly seal up to an 8 mil material thickness.
- Equipped with a bag entry guide for easy bag feeding and straight seals.
- Optional pressure embossing printing coder
- Includes an industrial-grade safety emergency stop switch to promptly halt production if needed.
The continuous band sealer is easy to use. Minimal operator training is required. You adjust the settings to the desired result, then feed the bags through the conveyor.
Customers often ask how difficult it is to set up the continuous band sealer. The answer is “easy” if you follow the instructions provided.
Finding the proper location is the most critical step in the initial setup. You must consider several factors:
- Adequate power source
- Relationship to the source of the product
- Production area space
- Relationship to any conveyors necessary to transport the finished product
- Easily accessible and comfortable for operators
When you unpack your machine for the first time, carefully check the contents against the spare parts list in the back of the owner’s manual. Once you have determined that all of the parts have arrived in good order, setup can proceed.
It only takes a few steps, and you’re ready to power up the sealer.
For setup, the vertical stand and sealer must be attached before operation. In addition to the stand, a vertical umbrella shaft must be installed. See our setup video here.
The continuous band sealer requires minimal maintenance to extend the machine’s lifespan. Daily maintenance includes cleaning the sealing belts of any build-up. It is also recommended to wipe down the conveyor daily to prevent excess materials from becoming caught in the belt.
Do not use water to wash down the machine. A shop cloth and silicone spray are suggested. Do not apply silicone directly to the sealer.
If the machine is used for more than 4 hours per day, it is recommended that you service it every 3 months. If used less frequently, a six-month service cycle can be employed.
Annual maintenance includes checking the condition of the sealing and drive belt and replacing it if necessary. You should also add lubricating grease to the gears, check the condition of the rubber wheel, clean the turbo case, and change the oil.

Other Frequently Asked Questions include:
- What is the footprint of the machine?
The horizontal continuous band sealer is 33 inches long, 15 inches wide, and 13 inches high. The vertical option is the same length and width, but is 22 inches tall. The machines weigh 63 lbs each.
- Can the belt be adjusted for larger bags?
The adjustable conveyor and motorized rubber belt can be adjusted for larger bags. The maximum conveyor load is 22 lbs. The belts ensure smooth operation, while knurled pressure rolls provide variable pressure control.
- Will they seal foil-laminated bags?
Continuous band sealers are excellent for sealing foil-laminated bags. They must use constant heat and adjustable pressure to handle the multiple layers. The speed must be adjusted as well. Thicker materials require slower speeds to ensure sufficient heat penetration.
- Are there any stands or work tables for the machine?
There are optional parts available to take the continuous band sealer from a tabletop machine to a stand-alone machine. Contact your sales representative for more information.
- Are there any printing options?
Yes, there are printing options with different band sealer models. The horizontal 880 comes with an embossing wheel, but ink options are available upon request.
