Our last post was focused on I-Bar shrink wrap machines. We went over the basics of I-Bar shrink wrap machines. This series is by no means intended to be a detailed look into shrink wrap machines. We are simply trying to point out the mere basics to help people when they are considering purchasing shrink wrap equipment.
L-Bar shrink wrap machines come in a variety of shapes and sizes. L-Bar shrink wrap machines are efficient because of the ability to seal multiple sides at once. L-Bar shrink wrap machine are very versatile, they can be used in manual shrink wrap operations, semi automatic operations, and fully automatic operations.
The L shaped bar is designed to cut and seal in one pass, making the sealing process faster. A centerfold pvc shrink wrap or centerfold polyolefin shrink wrap is used. The fold down the center of the shrink wrap allows less sides needed to be sealed. Once the roll is started, the last seal on the previous package becomes the first seal on the next package. This requires only two sides of the packaging to be sealed.
Depending on the level of packaging output, some L-bar shrink wrap machines have a shrink tunnel after the sealer. The shrink tunnel shrinks the rest of the wrap to the product. For lower output operations a heat shrink gun is commonly used to shrink the film to the product.
